My current approach is to create two paintings on the same theme.  

The motivation of the first watercolor,

Texas Red Horse Trailer companion watercolor to

the Texas Green Jay watercolor painting.

As part of my quest to capture the vanishing landscape,

during one of my back road trips through Texas,

I stumbled on this old fence post and barn structure.

The focus of this composition was the fence post and the way it

appeared in front of the barn which creates a sinse of distance.

I enjoyed the old barn and foreground flowers backlit by the sun.

The fence post is a classic iconic symbol of the Texas open spaces

in both watercolors. Drawn to the configuration of these gateposts

with native grasses and flowers, the intent to capture

the construction and design to show the textured character of the wood.
